Happoshu is a Japanese "shimmering soul" or low-malt beer that normally alludes to a beverage with under 67% malt content. Amusingly enough, Japanese duty laws don't order this beverage as a "beer", thereby giving it a lower charge than beer. Because of brewer's endeavors to keep the malt content underneath the planned assessment threshold, most happoshu contain under 25% malt, placing it in the lowest expense classification of low-malt beer.
