In 1994, our town of Haarlem celebrated its 750th anniversary. In order to honor this once glorious brewers' city, we reintroduced two forgotten Haarlem beers. The reactions ranged from 'Oeh lekker' to 'Can't you brew such fantastic beer for us more than once every 750 years?
And so brewery Jopen, named after the large beer barrels of the past, was born. Since then we have been enthusiastically brewing craft beer that is different from normal. From delicious hoppy IPA to unorthodox Caramel Seasalt Brownie Stout. Brews that might kick some sacred houses but believe us: traditions are quite pliable.
That's how we have a church as a brewery. In addition to heavenly beers and drink bites in our Grand café, you can also join us in our restaurant, where craft and cuisine merge.
