In the 14th century, the town of Einbeck got renowned for its magnificent quality beers. Munich couldn't rival them until Duke Maximilian I chose to set up his own brewery with the master brewer from Einbeck, Elias Pichler. His activity was to move all the brewing information from Einbeck to Munich, which wound up being the benchmark for this style of beer.
